The Toronto Silent Film Festival used Instagram to create flipbook-style silent films to promote their event. There are three different accounts where these can be viewed (tsff_1, tsff_2, tsff_3). When you scroll through your phone quickly, the stills create a trailer for each silent film.
Why I’m Curious:
It makes sense that an organization promoting old-timey visuals would use a platform that lets users make their photos look old. The films themselves aren’t terribly compelling, but I really appreciate how Instagram is being used differently here. This and The Wolverine trailer are inspiring thought starters, as we continue to create ways for brands to utilize social platforms in innovating ways. Perhaps Instagram might consider a moving picture functionality.
