Pinning For Social Good

Helpin. It is Pinterest page that tries to imagine how the page of someone truly in need would look (as opposed to a wishlist page). Users can browse the board to purchase items that families have lost. Each pin links to an Amazon registry, where items can be purchased and sent directly to the families. You can also re-pin the items to spread the word.

Why I’m Curious

Utilizing the capabilities of a social platform like Pinterest makes it easy for people to get involved, while engaging in a behavior that they’re already doing: “pinning.” This kind of initiative can easily be translated to other areas where aid is needed, from helping get books to children in schools, to providing food to combat hunger.
