When you follow a brand on Twitter, you mostly receive promotional tweets or a few decent jokes here or there, so Mellow Mushroom decided to do something a little different and reward their followers with a mushroom stalker.
The “Follow Me and I’ll Follow You” campaign told people that if they followed Mellow Mushroom on Twitter, they would follow you too. Except instead of a follow back on Twitter, Mellow Mushroom’s mascot would follow you in real life. The brand followed 20 followers in a week and recorded everything with hidden cameras.
Why I’m Curious
Though having a big yellow mushroom follow you around is kind of creepy, it also gives followers of the brand something to talk about that’s different from what other brands are doing. It also shows followers that brands are listening, online and offline.
